Nice to Meet You

Hello friend!
Welcome to my little home on the web!

Here are some little bits that you might not know about me:

I’m married to the BEST person I know! Dominic and I live in Leicester with our very fluffy dog, Kenzo.
I love travelling, reading and chocolate (in no particular order.)
I love Harry Potter! Yes, total Potterhead here – I own all books and films and I’ve read and watched them more times than I’d like to admit.
I’m originally from South Africa (funny accent included).
I almost always have chewing gum with me.
I have ridiculously eclectic taste in music and listen to everything from hard rock, country and classical to folk, house and jazz.
My favourite Disney movie is The Little Mermaid!
I love animals and I once owned a snake. (He was an American Corn snake – in case you wanted to know.)
I’m afraid of spiders…not on the phobia level but…they’re just ‘icky’. Dominic is the chief spider removal expert in our house.

My story:
I lived in South Africa until I was 9 and then moved to Mauritius – I spent a lot of my childhood swimming in the sea! I’ve always loved taking photos but I never considered taking it up professionally. Instead I went off to university in South Africa and did a degree is psychology which I really enjoyed. (I’m a bit of a nerd and love learning and studying.) I originally came over to the UK to do a masters degree in applied criminology and then worked in research for two years after my masters. I got bored of all the spreadsheets and numbers and decided to invest some time into my photography. I soon realised how much I loved photographing weddings after assisting another wedding photographer at a few shoots. A year later I started my own business and now I get to be creative and do what I love all the time. I feel incredibly blessed that this is my job!

It’s been over three years since I started photographing weddings and I still love everything about them – the excitement, the emotion, the details, the hilarious moments! It’s an immense privilege to be asked to document a couple’s wedding day and getting to see all the details that express who a couple is and what their love means. I’ve now captured weddings all over the UK as well as in South Africa, Belgium and Italy.
